Happiness - Our State of Mind
(Leena Sharjeel, Karachi)
Happiness- our state of mind.
“Happiness depends upon ourselves” – Aristotle.
If I were to put forth my concept of happiness, what happiness to me is, I would
put it as simply as “our state of mind.” That’s what happiness is to me, solely and
undoubtedly our state of mind. Happiness is the most uncomplicated, effortless,
and undemanding sentiment for a living being to experience. Of all the other
emotions an individual can go through, happiness is the easiest and the most
peaceful one.
“Happiness is a state of mind. It's just according to the way you look at things.” –
Walt Disney.
Happiness lies around us. Only if we are a little more mindful of our surroundings
to be able to find it in the most minor of happenings. We don’t have to cast about,
looking for substantial activities to win happiness. We don’t have to unnaturally
create an atmosphere to know how it feels to be unreservedly happy. We don’t
have to embroil things to accomplish a state of happiness. We just have to look
around us, with a little more positive outlook.
Happiness can be found in the utmost times of melancholy, in the most candid
and basic occurrences. We don’t have to pitch in our energy to create happiness
through perplexing and knotty approaches.
“Happiness can be found in even the darkest of times if only one remembers to
turn on the light.” – J.K Rowling.
Happiness is laughing your heart out with your favorite person, adding on things
that make you laugh even harder, and forgetting the agonies of life for a little
mentally nourishing moment. Happiness is waking up to whiffs of your favorite
food being prepared in the kitchen. Happiness is waking up to the clock showing
07:00 in the morning, realizing it’s Sunday, and going back to an undisturbed
sleep, pulling the covers up, and tucking yourself in. Happiness is randomly finding
a chocolate in your drawer. Happiness is always around us.
