EXPERIMENT OF GENERATING ELECTRICITY BY COAL
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
Recently Pakistani scientists
have experimented successfully to generate electricity by coal at Thar. The
scientists have also claimed to generate 100-megawatt electricity in 2013,
adding that they can get 100 million barrel diesel too. This is really a great
achievement of Pakistani scientists and Pakistan is proud of them.
On the other hand, head of Thar coal project Dr. Samar Mubarak Mand has
expressed his concern over the government’s ignorance on the project. He has
said that the federal government is not taking interest in Thar coal project
whereas he has pleaded the sitting government to provide them 8 to 9 billions
rupees for the project and 100 mega-watt electricity will start to generate in
2013 whereas 10 thousands mega-watt electricity will be generated for 30 years.
In addition, gas along with 100 million barrel diesel could be achieved for 30
years by coal resources.
This is a great misfortune that despite having good scientists in Pakistan, the
government is ignoring them. If the government fulfil the requirements of the
scientists, Pakistan can be more stable and more powerful. There will be no load
shedding of electricity and institutions will be working without any disturbance
successfully and the economy of Pakistan will be stabilized.
I with the whole nation demand of the government to consider the project
seriously and prove that it is a democratic government. The sitting government
has always been making wrong decisions so why not today a good decision in
Pakistan’s interest?
