•When Bugs Bunny first appeared in 1935, he was called Happy Rabbit.

•‘Long in the tooth’ meaning old was originally used to describe horses. As horses age, their gums recede, giving the impression that their teeth are growing. The longer the teeth look the older the horse. You can also tell the sex of a horse by its teeth. Most males have 40 while females have 36.

•More than 99.9 percent of all the animal species that have ever lived on earth were extinct before the coming of man.

•A newborn kangaroo is about one inch in length. An adult kangaroo can leap over 30 feet in one bound.

•In 1984, a Canadian farmer began renting advertising space on his cows.

•A rat can last longer without water than a camel.

•Adult cats with no health problems are in deep sleep 15% of their lives. They are in light sleep 50% of the time.

•An ostriches eye is bigger than its brain.

•Cats have better memories than dogs. Tests conducted by the University of Michigan concluded that while a dog’s memory lasts no longer than five minutes, a cat’s can last as long as 16 hours - exceeding even that of monkeys and orang-utans.

•All pet hamsters are descended from a single female wild golden hamster found with a litter of 12 young in Syria in 1930.

•An adult lions roar can be heard up to five miles away, and warns off intruders or reunites scattered members of the pride.
