Traffic has such an effect on
our lives that even non-drivers are impacted by it. Traffic costs us time and
money, affects our physical and mental well-being, and has consequences for the
environment.
Traffic problems are worldwide and every country is trying to confront the
problems of Traffic. Like other countries also in Pakistan this issue is getting
worse day by day and government like other issues have always paid less
attention on this issue which making the life of people more difficult. Many
companies in different countries bank corrupted just because of maintenance. The
solutions are very simple but if the government pay a little attention toward
this issue. Before i would tell the causes of traffic jams i would like to tell
about a shopkeeper who runs a shop of installments and i can’t believe that you
can have bike of your own in such an easy way. If you want to purchase a bike on
installments and you visit shop of that person and he will give u bike on just
100 rupees per day which becomes 3000 after a month. Person who cannot afford to
give 3000 at the end of a month , he easily give 100 rupees per day. Traffic
problems in the twin cities have aggravated due to the negligence of concerned
authorities, which pay no heed to address the traffic related issues. On one
hand the CDA had failed to construct roads in time, and on the other, the roads
that they had constructed, were creating traffic problem due to poor road
engineering. “If CDA constructs underpasses on busy intersections and expedite
work on different ongoing projects, the traffic problems could be minimised to a
great extent,”. The commuters demand of authorities concerned to check these
hazards to smooth traffic flow and avoid accidents. I would state the causes of
traffics jams on most of the roads of the Major cities like Lahore, Faisalabad,
Karachi, Islamabad.
• Smaller the roads are and buses size are big and for the cars and motorcycles.
• Roads are not properly carpeted and make the loss of bikes and cars as their
tires and other spare parts get asunder soon. And people too, take an alternate
to reach their destiny and as a result other roads are suffered from the heavy
loads of traffic.
• The biggest problem which have made the life of people more worse is the
financing of banks which issues cars on installments and now every man can
afford the car and worst situation is with the motor bikes and that is, they
give bikes on installments to the people in a very easy way then the banks.
• If we talk about the politics of our countries and about the political parties
then we come to know that parties just carpet the road when election draws near
and also the people say that if that person who is going for the next election
and will come us for the vote, make the roads of our area , get fixed the
pipelines of gas or water etc........then we will agree to choose him for our
area.
• The third important thing we must learn is Civic Sense. Our people don’t have
sense of traffic rules. Every one is in hurry and before the signal light turns
green they accelerate and somehow mange to go. We are talking about the civic
sense then Tolerance is very importantly needed . Intolerance is the apple of
cord in many quarrels on roads due to traffic problems.
• Corruption is everywhere in our country and also the corruption in our traffic
police . if i violate the rules then i am sure that i will be free after
offering some rupees to the police officers. Corruption must be stamped out from
this department.
• The government cars without number plate are also on the roads and no police
personnel can ever dare to stop that car because that car belongs to the
government. Few days back Supreme court took notice of the cars in country which
are plying on the roads without number plate. He ruled out that these cars must
be grabbed . There are also number of private cars which are on the roads
without number plate and those cars are used in robberies and police have no
record of that car.there is a lot more to do for us as Traffic Problems is a
vast issue. Rule of law must be for everyone whether he is a government officer
or a layman who is riding a bike or driving a car, whether he is a journalist or
a student.
• People here do not know the benefits of wearing helmet. We have no awareness
how important this helmet is. In civilized countries, you are not allowed to
ride bike without helmet even the person who is sitting behind on your bike, he
or she also wear helmet but in our country rider do not use it then how will the
back sitter?
• Another important thing is that our traffic police must be educated so that
they can deliver the people amply and they must be in an active shape. We have a
host of examples of Police other than traffic ,they have large belly and they
cannot catch the culprits because of their weight and even they cannot run.
As i stated above, Corruption, Civic Sense among people regarding traffic, Banks
which issue a vehicle on very easy conditions are the responsible and they are
like the can of worms. Government should conduct seminars on national level to
make the people aware of traffic issues and their solutions. Until or unless we
do not make ourselves right we cannot be counted among civilized nations. Police
and Media should play their role regarding this issue. On the other hand, people
are also responsible for these broken roads,traffic jams just because of
intolerance and without thinking and for little benefits cast vote for
incompetent people. The people who are just slave of their own desires and
consider the politics as business. Their just one wrong vote make the plight of
people detrimental.
