The seeking of knowledge is
obligatory for every Muslim both male and female (Holy Prophet Muhammad
S.A.W).All of us know the importance of education, it is responsible for the
entire progress of any society or country. Education builds the nations. It
determines the future of any nation .But I regret to say that in 67 years of
Independence we could not solve our issue of education in Pakistan. We are still
failing to bring improvement in education, after independence Pakistan has faced
a number of problems on his way to progress. All the issues are major and badly
affecting the Pakistani society, but in my perspective the greatest loss comes
in the area of education. How education is still unsolved issue in Pakistan.
There are many causes such as
(I) Due to Different educational system such as elite School, middle class
school, army school, below average public school/government school.
(ii) Due to absence of any effective and coherent government policy.
(iii) No encouragement of technical education.
(iv) Low number of training institution for teachers.
(v) Dual medium of teaching.
(vi) Lack of public or government schools.
(vii) No research based education
(viii) Lack of scholarships for poor.
(ix) Low budget for education
What is Impact of unsolved educational system in Pakistan Future?
There are many impact of unsolved educational system in Pakistan such as
economy, no technical progress, no improvement in literacy rate, tarnished image
of Pakistan in whole world, and less development in Pakistan etc. Because of all
these issues Pakistan is not becoming a development country. In human
development report Pakistan is placed at 136th position for having just 49.9%
educated population. In addition to that Pakistan is ranked at 113th out of 120
registered UN members according to the research conducted by UNESCO. Some of the
very basic flaws of education system in Pakistan contribute to the economic,
ethnic and sociopolitical crisis with in the country.
How can we improve our educational system?
The big issue is inequality in educational system. We have distributed Pakistan
in three classes’ elite class, middle class, lower class. But the very regretful
thing is that we have also divided our educational system into different
categories such as elite school, middle class school, army school and public
school or government school. Elite school for most rich people, middle class
school for middle class peoples and public school for poor. It is wrong a poor
person cannot send their children to elite class schools. We should introduce
equal pattern of education in Pakistan. We should finish these categories which
have introduced in our society.
The other big issue is absence of coherence and effective government policies.
Our government only knows to make policy but don’t know how to implement that
policy in our country. Since 1947 not a single government is able to change this
scenario. Every year policy for education is reviewed by the results are still
same .illiteracy rate is increasing day by day. So government should take strong
step about the education and make a better policy and implement that policy in
their governed.
There is no encouragement of technical education in Pakistan. The lack of
technical education is a biggest flaw in the educational policy that has never
been focused. We only teach theory don’t teach practical work and not teach any
type of technical work therefore after completing our degrees we fail to get a
job. Our current education system cannot cope with the demands of science and
technology, our current system was established many years ago. All that time, it
might have been consistent with the needs of age, but now it appears to be full
outdated. It should be revised and improved according to the new challenges of
the world. We should introduce new method of education in educational system.
There is another issue lack of training institute in our society. There should
be great number of training institute for training of teachers because if they
would be train they produce good students. The teachers in government schools
are not well trained. People who do not get job in other sector, they try their
luck in educational system. They are not professionally trained teachers so they
are unable to train a nation. So government should introduce a diploma of
training in education without that diploma no teacher will be able to get job in
educational sector.
Dual medium of teaching is very big issue in Pakistan. There is big
discrimination between English medium and Urdu medium. A student of English
cannot speak the Urdu which is our national language but he appreciated by
everyone because he can speak English. And student of Urdu can’t speak English
but he always feel regret in this as he cannot speak English because our society
prefer English. If china can progress by speaking Chinese then Pakistan can also
progress by speaking its national language Urdu so we should finish dual medium
of teaching in our country.
There is very less number of public or government schools in our country. Public
schools are in very less numbers in Pakistan we should increase the number of
public schools in our society. Because many peoples send their children’s to
public schools if the number of these school would increase than there will come
improvement in our educational system and in our literacy rate.
There is no research based education in Pakistan. We only teach students
theoretical work. Our students get bachelor degree just after a theory based
exam. So we should add research based education in educational system. Research
should be part of exam, an individual do research work and get marks on the
bases of his research by this way our educational system might be improved.
Poverty is very big problem of our society. Many peoples cannot send their
children’s to schools because of poverty or many students passed inter exam with
good mark but they cannot go to the universities because they have no money. So
our government should increase the number of scholarship for those peoples who
get good marks and also for those people who are poor they cannot bear
educational expenses. It will be a good step for our Educational system.
I regret to say that in Pakistan we are spending our more budget on arms than
our education which shows that how much important we give to education. So we
should give an important place to education in our budget and it is the
responsibility of our Government. Our maximum budget should be for education
than it will be good step for our educational system.
All these issues are contributing to high illiteracy rate in Pakistan, so we
should take some step as a nation because it is pour country which is given to
us by Allah and we get this country after the struggle of many great leaders
such as Quaid-Azam, Allama Muhammad Iqbal , Sir Syed Ahmed khan, Liquate Ali
khan etc. so we should care this country and improve the system of education in
our country. ‘’ Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to
change the world.’’
