Last Sunday my family went to
seaside to make our holiday refreshing. When we were on the way I asked my Mama,
can I see fish there? She smiled and said, No son! Fish lives in the sea,
without water they will die; you cannot see them at the seaside. It make me
little disappointed but when we reached at the spot I shouted with joy ,”look
Mama fish!” there were so many fish spreading all over the beach, but my
happiness suddenly turned into sadness when I saw that all these fish were dead.
I did not want to see them like that, I wished to see them jumping and playing
in the water. What’s all that happened here? I asked mama, she said it’s because
of “pollution”. I want to know more about that but later. We moved on to another
picnic spot and spend the day, but that dead fish scene spoiled my day.
When we were back, I decided to know more about sea pollution, I found so many
interesting things to know and to learn about fishes. First I got my answer that
it is human, who is responsible for all sorts of pollution. Factories & domestic
waste are the main causes, which make the sea water polluted and harmful for sea
creatures to live in and it results in their death. Along with this, making of
dam, over fishing and improper fishing practice called trawling also damaging
the life of fish and other sea animals. The most frightening information I got
about fish life is that there will be no fish to catch by 2048, it means when I
will be around 41 years old I will not have any sea food to eat? . This really
sad to know, when I read some other articles I found that researchers are trying
to find, is this statement about fish extinction is true or not? A researcher,
Boris Worm, PhD, at a university in Halfax with his co workers did a
comprehensive study, observed many marine ecosystem and found that already 29%
of edible fish and other sea food declined by 90% and only 1% of marine
ecosystem is protected. They further said that if this decline will continue
then it might be possible that there will be no fish to catch by 2048. This is
so sad! Isn’t it, no fish fry, no shrimps, no fish stakes and my hot favorite
fish burger? Any change in ecosystem, will badly effects the food chain, if
fishes will die then fish predators will not able to survive so whole balance of
life will be destroyed. If human is responsible for this damage then definitely
he is the one who can do his efforts to reduce its effects and save then species
in danger.
To save the fish and their environment, elders have to do their jobs by dumping
waste of mills and houses in proper way instead of throwing in the sea, stop
over fishing by making laws to make trawling illegal, and by reducing number of
unnecessary dams. Being a child I need to play my role, for that I have made a
promise to myself that I’ll keep my beach clean and I’ll spread this message in
my surrounding too. I believe if we all work together we can do this. So, let
the fish live a happy life in a sea!
