I have a Dream for Gilgit-baltistan

(Amir jan haqqani, Gilgit)

As you know that every person has the right to see dreams. So I have a dream also, which I want to share with you. My dream is only for Gilgit-Baltistan. It isn’t for the whole country. You may be surprised why this is so.

This is because my Gilgit – Baltistan doesn’t have acceptance as it deserves by the rest of the country for the past 70 years. I wanted to become a good Pakistani but I wasn’t given this opportunity.

My dream is about a peaceful Gilgit-Baltistan where everyone finds peace and love. Even the tourists - Pakistani and foreign – enjoy their visit and stay. In other words, I want a place where leg pulling and infighting shouldn’t be rule of the game, where every citizen gets free education and health.

Above all I want to see the day when I may be able to go to bazaar and the City Park without any fear of being targeted. This I desire for all my neighbors, friends and relatives irrespective of their cast, creed and sect.

You know beauty lies in diversity just like if every flowers. If everyone has a same color, it will lose its charm. Just like that, in my beautiful homeland, we have diversity in language and culture. If I get this, I may be a lawyer, doctor, scholars, scientist, journalist etc.
I am hopeful one day my great nation and my beautiful people realize this and live in solidarity, without oppressing or suppressing each other, making the environment in Gilgit - Baltistan peaceful.

As we know there is still no freedom for us. When it comes to Civic and basic rights, they are scarce too. That’s why in think we should avoid violence. In simple words, violence is not answer to attain peace, love and a good civil society. For this to achieve we should not be reactive. Remember that two wrongs don’t make a right and with both sides reacting, this area can never be made a better place to live in. We should have a collective thinking to realize that everyone is equal and hence deserves respect. I am hopeful one day my great nation and my beautiful people realize this and live in solidarity, without oppressing or suppressing each other, making the environment in Gilgit - Baltistan peaceful. I put my trust in Allah Almighty! We pray to Him to Give us everything you and we like and love. Ameen
