The Revenge

It was the morning of Friday and Mahnoor was ready to leave for school. As she was going out her mother cried, “Beta please come back and take your lunch box.” Mahnoor came back and took her lunch box in a hurry and asked. “Mom what have you given me for lunch?” Before her mom could answer the van’s horn came and she shouted, “Run. Your van has come, you can check the lunch box in your break time.” Mahnoor went out quickly and jumped into her van. Her friends asked her, “Why have you come so late?” She replied, “I was late because I was asking my mother that what is in my lunch box, but she did not tell me.”All her friends laughed at her. At last they came to school and daily lessons started.

In the second period Mahnoor class had their indoor games. When they were making the line to go for the indoor games, Mahnoor saw one of her class fellows standing in front of her. Her name was Ayesha Baig and she used to tease all the students and the teachers a lot. Mahnoor decided to make fun of her and called out, “Your name is Ayesha Baig, it should have been ‘laal baig.” At this the girl became so angry that she started crying. Mahnoor got scared and tried to stop her but she said that she would complain to the teacher about it. Then she said, “if you do 20 sit-ups then I will not tell the teacher that you called me a laal baig.” Mahnoor was scared and when they had finished playing she did 20 sit-ups in front of her. When she had done that Ayesha again said, “Do 15 sit-ups more otherwise I will tell the teacher.” She was so scared that she began to do it. ‘If will not do 15 sit-ups she will tell the teacher and I don’t want my image to turn bad in front of the teacher,’ she thought to herself. When the bell rang Mahnoor found that her legs were aching badly. She told the teacher but not the reason behind it because she was afraid that the teacher would scold her. Then the teacher asked, “What happened tell me honestly.” The teacher asked twice or thrice, so she told the teacher the whole story behind it. “I have done 35 sit-ups because of Ayesha.’’ “Why did you do so?” Mahnoor confessed everything. “If you only called her names she did not have the right to make you do sit-ups. You should have just said ‘Sorry’. Ayeshe could have retaliated by calling you names if she wanted to take revenge. Mahnoor you are not allowed to call anyone names and Ayesha, keep in mind that if anyone has slapped you only once, you can also slap him only once and not more than that.” Mahnoor was ashamed in front of her teacher and thought, “I got easily blackmailed by Ayesha. From now on if I do something wrong I will tell the teacher and become a brave girl forever.” From that day no one ever tried to fool her.

Dear readers, this is my true story. When I told it to my dad he advised me, “Mahnoor beta, there are many bad people in the world who use small issues to blackmail silly and cowardly people. This leads to a very bad result in the end. If you have done something wrong, then admit it and say sorry to Allah ta’ala also. That’s the best way, but if you try to hide it, it will make the situation worse.”
