Energy efficient appliances: One of the solutions for the electricity crisis in Pakistan

Nowadays Pakistan faces sever electricity crisis which is a major barrier in the path of its economical progress. There is about 88098Mwatts shortfall. Many solutions have been presented to overcome this shortfall but most of them are related to the generation side. These solutions are very expensive and some of them cannot be implemented. On consumption side this supply and demand shortfall can also be reduced by doing some efforts on the electrical appliances.

From the research it has been noticed that lighting and cooling are the major consumers of electricity in Pakistan. So appliances such as bulbs, tube lights, ceiling fans, air conditioners etc should be energy efficient. Energy efficient appliances consume less amount of energy and produce less power losses. There are many standards and labels which decide either an appliance is energy efficient or not such as energy star.

Being a responsible Pakistani it is our duty to use and promote such appliances which are labeled with energy star or 3 star labels. Although these appliances are expensive as compare to the conventionally used appliances but it is onetime expense which will give benefits in long terms not only to the consumer but also to the whole nation. These energy efficient appliances reduce the electricity bill which is beneficial for the consumer and reduce the energy consumption which helps to reduce the electricity crisis in Pakistan.
