Our face is our canvas and we need to take care of it before the signs of ageing appear. You don’t have to be in your middle age to consider renewing your skin; prevention is ideal for soft, supple skin in the latter. Instead of worrying about wrinkles and fine lines in your forties, start preventing it now when you’re still young. If you’re an avid makeup user then read the following steps to nourish your skin. Your skin needs to breathe if you apply leaps of foundation or base for every day. Here’s how to treat your skin:

Olive oil:
Makeup removers, cleansing pads might be on trend now but you need to consider what you are putting on your face. Makeup wipes, face washes contain alcohol; which strips out the natural moisture from your skin. That’s not what you want as this will cause dryness, dryness results to acne and it’s also a sign of ageing. Your makeup remover could be the all trustworthy “Extra Virgin Olive oil”. It should definitely be organic and it’s a perfect makeup remover; as it not only breaks down the makeup but it’s a good moisturizer as well. Olive oil will also condition your lashes, while you remove your eye makeup. Face washes and all these products can be harsh on your skin; therefore invest in a certified, organic olive oil for your daily makeup removal duels.

Cleansing oils:
Forget your beauty soap bars ladies; this liquid miracle is your one-stop shop for the removal of acne, elimination of dryness and dullness and it also prevents signs of ageing. Cleansing oils mix with the bad oils in your skin, caused by excessive production of sebum or makeup products, and when you rinse off your face the cleansing oil will wash off with the bad oils and dirt. This will result in a clean, spot-less skin you desire. Oil cleansers have antioxidants and anti-ageing components which rejuvenate the skin; these essential oils also contain a mixture of different botanical oils (sunflower, olive, almond, grape seed) and vitamins. They also neutralize the pH value of the skin and are perfect for all those who apply makeup on a daily basis. Oil cleansers with glycerin or silicone are ideal for consumers with acne-prone skin.

Clay Mask:
It’s not a crime to treat your skin once in a week so find the clay mask ideal for your skin type. Clay mask removes impurities, unclogs pores and nourishes the skin. A clay mask is made up of bentonite clay and is the core ingredient for any type of clay mask. Bentonite clay cleans out the heavy toxins and chemicals from your skin; also providing oxygen to your skin cells and maintaining an alkalizing effect. It contains minerals such as magnesium, silica and calcium, thus when you combine the mask with nature’s goodies (yoghurt, honey and rose water) you get the perfect ingredient for nurturing your skin. If you’re on a budget so all you have to do is take your ‘Fuller’s earth’. Combine rose water and Fuller’s earth to make an effective mask for all skin types. If you have dry or combination skin, take your olive oil and add it in your clay mask. Apply the clay mask on your face for 15-20 minutes and rinse off with warm water. You can also add lemon in your multani mitti mask for the bleaching effect. For acne issues you can add honey in your bentonite clay, with water to thicken the paste.

Honey:
A mother nature’s treat to all- Honey. This golden elixir is packed with antioxidants which slow down the process of ageing; it’s an antibacterial thereby ideal for avoiding pigmentation and it also helps in the removal of acne. It opens up pores which makes the process of cleansing easier; as the pores would be unclogged. A honey mask can improve your complexion, also giving you a healthy glow. Mix turmeric powder, lemon juice and honey for fighting blemishes; it’s a two in one pack which clears your skin and also removes tan. For a honey mask, apply thing layers of honey in circular motions on your face. Avoid talking or smiling when you have the product on as it could lead to wrinkles. After 30 minutes you should rinse your face with warm water.

Face Serum:
A serum is a more, refined version of a moisturizer. It’s thinner than your average moisturizer but it’s more effective and is packed with valuable minerals, to enhance your skin. It’s also called a thinner moisturizer and conventionally it’s applied before makeup; so that it could glide on easier. Serums are made up of small molecules for the easier absorption in the skin; they contain anti-ageing ingredients, antioxidants, peptides and skin brighteners (kojic acid). If you don’t have a healthy diet, compromising of fruits and leafy vegetables, a serum is your must-have product. It’s a boost for your skin making it appear youthful, fresh and aglow. Use a Vitamin C serum if you want to prevent ageing factors. Don’t over use your serum! Just a few drops are enough to nourish your skin. If you apply retinoid cream, earlier, then apply your serum afterwards, preferably in the evening. For drier skin it’s better if you can apply your serum in the morning. If you have skin, chronic conditions (such as eczema) avoid application, as it may cause irritation. No doubt it’s expensive but your skin will be grateful.

Eye Cream:
Always under any circumstances you must apply eye cream to prevent dark circles. The skin around our eyes is delicate and the thinnest surface of the face, it ages 36 percent faster. Therefore it’s mandatory to always hydrate that area using your ring finger (as it’s the weakest) in dabbing motions. Dark eye circles, puffy eyes and fine lines are signs of ageing and they can be prevented by the nourishment of the thin layer of skin around the eyes. Before going to a bed, make it a habit of applying eye cream gently in dabbing motions.

Retinoid:
A retinoids are a class of chemical compound which contains Vitamin A. Retinoid cream reduces the appearance of wrinkles, strengthens skin elasticity, helps break down of collagen and lightens the sun spots. Consult a dermatologist if you plan to buy this product. Tretonin and adapalene are two retinoids, which require prescription. Use this cream on your problem areas before sleeping.

These following tips will help you achieve a beautiful, renewed skin but miracles aren’t promised. You have to work on your diet and drink plenty of water for maintain a healthy skin.
