Since time immemorial communication is considered as an important tool of relationship and individual unique adjustment with the environment. Therefore all the early scholars deemed it a tool vital to facilitate learning and critical thinking. It was declared as a sort of mechanism by which a man can improve the safety and quality of life. In this connection, communication mostly remained centered on how people could use messages to generate meanings within and across all kinds of backgrounds, cultures, channels and media.

In today’s world, an unceasing bombardment of incoming message technology has made it possible to meet anyone, anyplace at anytime and there are more and more communication options available to the people, from cell phones and text messages to a learning management system .

Today, the Internet is a public, concerted, and self-sustaining facility accessible to hundreds and millions of people worldwide. Physically, the Internet uses a percentage of the entire resources of the currently existing public telecommunication networks. For many Internet users, electronic mail (e-mail) has practically replaced the Postal Service for short written transactions. Electronic mail is the most widely used application on the Net.

People these days prefer to communicate with their friends on face book rather than on phone or on intimate and face to face basis even to the extent that when the nature of the tropics is more personal and private one.

Similarly, face book usage can lead to the feelings of jealousy among friends and leads to a social standing among friends based on friends’ Face book activity.

In Pakistan it is often related to negative feedback and cyber bullying by cultist-cum-politico trolls and youth are often being involved with negative communication, either as the sender or recipient.

Several research studies in the west have discovered that the extreme exposure of face book can affect interpersonal relationships. Many studies also find it of having both positive and negative effects. One of the most highly touted positive aspects of Face book is the fact that it allows users to maintain contact and sustain friendships with those who are physically far away. Conversely, it is also clear that Face book usage introduces new issues and complications within friendships.

This to some extent also reinforces the diplomatic and unclear philosophical perspective where people lament that technological advancement can both help and hinder interpersonal relationship.

To be conclusive of the topic we can say that face book has gradually become a constant in the world of interpersonal communication. As technology advances and becomes more ingrained in daily life, the users too will become aware of the possible impacts of this medium, and will start using it for the constructive and durable interpersonal communication and relationship.
