Street Crimes In Karachi

Street crimes like snatching of mobiles phones, cars, gold ornaments etc. are the burning question nowadays in Pakistan especially in Karachi. The incidents of street crimes had jumped up recently in Karachi as the issue might be overlooked by the law-enforcement agencies and they are witnessed busy in fighting major issues, like restoring peace and apprehending of militants and hit men or ongoing operations against terrorists. This is a wonderful job for restoration of peace in the city, while handling major issues, the minor ones have been overlooked which led to increase in street crimes. In cities like Karachi, one cannot find a person without a story of snatching a cell phone or whooping cash. Most citizens in Karachi have either been held up at gunpoint themselves, or have friends or family members who have gone through this terrifying nightmare. In fact, muggers do not have the slightest compunction in pulling the trigger at even a hint of resistance. Many valuable lives have been lost for not handing over a mobile phone or wallet.

Everyday street crimes headlines appear in the news, but, sadly, no efforts have been created to overcome this disgusting issue. According to some researches, the people who commit such crimes are simple native looking souls who are tired of prolonged poverty and joblessness and do spoil in such activities. The main reason for this is the widening difference between rich and poor. In the past the rich people helped the poor people, which formed a strong bond between these two but, unfortunately, the link has weakened and circumstances is overturned. The moral values seem to have faded away. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer day by day. The lack of trust in police also the reason behind this issue. The victims oftentimes believe that it is useless filing a report and informing the police due to the kin don’t have immeasurably position in the qualification of police to increase their property. In fact, the only way to end up these crimes, we have to teach our new generations because an literate person can take the country to development while parents have to spend more time with their children telling them about the disadvantages and effects of these crimes. Even though, the situation of Karachi pertaining to its peace, security and stability has significantly improved over the past months, however, true stability will be seen when the city’s roads will become safe for the common man. Decrease the incidence of killings, kidnapping, extortion and other brutal crimes have indeed allowed the people of Karachi to breathe easier. However, people will only be able to sleep easy once street crime is controlled.
