وَ لَقَدْ اَتَوْا عَلَى الْقَرْیَةِ الَّتِیْۤ اُمْطِرَتْ مَطَرَ السَّوْءِؕ-اَفَلَمْ یَكُوْنُوْا یَرَوْنَهَاۚ-بَلْ كَانُوْا لَا یَرْجُوْنَ نُشُوْرًا ﴿۴۰﴾

اور ضرور یہ (ف۷۱) ہو آئے ہیں اس بستی پر جس پر برا برساؤ برسا تھا (ف۷۲) تو کیا یہ اسے دیکھتے نہ تھے (ف۷۳) بلکہ انہیں جی اٹھنے کی امید تھی ہی نہیں (ف۷۴) ﴿۴۰﴾
(ترجمہ: کنزالایمان) اور یہ کافر اس بستی پر بھی گزر چکے ہیں جس پر بری طرح کا مینہ برسایا گیا تھا۔ کیا وہ اس کو دیکھتے نہ ہوں گے۔ بلکہ ان کو (مرنے کے بعد) جی اُٹھنے کی امید ہی نہیں تھی۔ ﴿۴۰﴾
