مَا تَعْبُدُوْنَ مِنْ دُوْنِهٖۤ اِلَّاۤ اَسْمَآءً سَمَّیْتُمُوْهَاۤ اَنْتُمْ وَ اٰبَآؤُكُمْ مَّاۤ اَنْزَلَ اللّٰهُ بِهَا مِنْ سُلْطٰنٍؕ-اِنِ الْحُكْمُ اِلَّا لِلّٰهِؕ-اَمَرَ اَلَّا تَعْبُدُوْۤا اِلَّاۤ اِیَّاهُؕ-ذٰلِكَ الدِّیْنُ الْقَیِّمُ وَ لٰـكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا یَعْلَمُوْنَ ﴿۴۰﴾

تم اس کے سوا نہیں پوجتے مگر نرے نام (فرضی نام) جو تم نے اور تمہارے باپ دادا نے تراش لیے ہیں (ف۱۰۶) اللہ نے ان کی کوئی سند نہ اتاری، حکم نہیں مگر اللہ کا اس نے فرمایا کہ اس کے سوا کسی کو نہ پوجو (ف۱۰۷) یہ سیدھا دین ہے (ف۱۰۸) لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے (ف۱۰۹) ﴿۴۰﴾
(ترجمہ: کنزالایمان) جن چیزوں کی تم خدا کے سوا پرستش کرتے ہو وہ صرف نام ہی نام ہیں جو تم نے اور تمہارے باپ دادا نے رکھ لیے ہیں۔ خدا نے ان کی کوئی سند نازل نہیں کی۔ (سن رکھو کہ) خدا کے سوا کسی کی حکومت نہیں ہے۔ اس نے ارشاد فرمایا ہے کہ اس کے سوا کسی کی عبادت نہ کرو۔ یہی سیدھا دین ہے لیکن اکثر لوگ نہیں جانتے ﴿۴۰﴾

Surah Yusuf Ayat 40 with English Translation

Those whom ye worship beside Him are but names which ye have named, ye and your fathers. Allah hath revealed no sanction for them. The decision rests with Allah only, Who hath commanded you that ye worship none save Him. This is the right religion, but most men know not. ﴾40﴿
