Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When you disagree over the road, then make it seven forearm lengths.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُثَنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا تَشَاجَرْتُمْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ،‏‏‏‏ فَاجْعَلُوهُ سَبْعَةَ أَذْرُعٍ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ. قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ بُشَيْرِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْعَدَوِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ،‏‏‏‏ وَرَوَى بَعْضُهُمْ هَذَا عَنْ قَتَادَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مَحْفُوظٍ.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب راستے کے سلسلے میں تم میں اختلاف ہو تو اسے سات ہاتھ ( چوڑا ) رکھو“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ ( سابقہ ) وکیع کی حدیث سے زیادہ صحیح ہے، ۲- بشیر بن کعب کی حدیث جسے انہوں نے ابوہریرہ سے روایت کی ہے حسن صحیح ہے، اور بعض نے اسے قتادہ سے اور قتادہ نے بشیر بن نہیک سے اور بشیر نے ابوہریرہ سے روایت کی ہے اور یہ غیر محفوظ ہے، ۳- اس باب میں ابن عباس سے بھی روایت ہے۔
