Baab Namaz Ke Ehkaam O Masail

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُبَيْدٍ وَهُوَ عَبْثَرُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ مِنْ آخِرِ مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِ اتَّخِذْ مُؤَذِّنًا لَا يَأْخُذُ عَلَى أَذَانِهِ أَجْرًا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ عُثْمَانَ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ كَرِهُوا أَنْ يَأْخُذَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ عَلَى الْأَذَانِ أَجْرًا وَاسْتَحَبُّوا لِلْمُؤَذِّنِ أَنْ يَحْتَسِبَ فِي أَذَانِهِ.

Urdu Translation

عثمان رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   سب سے آخری وصیت رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم نے مجھے یہ کی کہ ”مؤذن ایسا رکھنا جو اذان کی اجرت نہ لے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- عثمان رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اور اہل علم کے نزدیک عمل اسی پر ہے، انہوں نے مکروہ جانا ہے کہ مؤذن اذان پر اجرت لے اور مستحب قرار دیا ہے کہ مؤذن اذان اجر و ثواب کی نیت سے دے ۱؎۔

English Translation

Uthman bin Abi Al-As narrated: Indeed, amount the last (of orders) Allah's Messenger ordered me with was to employ a Mu'adh-dhin who would not take a wage for his Adhan.
