Jabir narrated that : the Prophet said: When one of you prostrates, then let him be balanced, and let him not lay his forearms down like the lying of the dog.

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا سَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَعْتَدِلْ وَلَا يَفْتَرِشْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ افْتِرَاشَ الْكَلْبِ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْبَرَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي حُمَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ جَابِرٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ يَخْتَارُونَ الِاعْتِدَالَ فِي السُّجُودِ وَيَكْرَهُونَ الِافْتِرَاشَ كَافْتِرَاشِ السَّبُعِ.

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب تم میں سے کوئی سجدہ کرے تو اعتدال کرے ۱؎ اور اپنے ہاتھ کو کتے کی طرح نہ بچھائے“ ۲؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- جابر کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عبدالرحمٰن بن شبل، انس، براء، ابوحمید اور عائشہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اہل علم کا عمل اسی پر ہے، وہ سجدے میں اعتدال کو پسند کرتے ہیں اور ہاتھ کو درندے کی طرح بچھانے کو مکروہ سمجھتے ہیں۔
