حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ هُوَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فَمِنْهُمْ شَقِيٌّ وَسَعِيدٌ سورة هود آية 105 سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَعَلَى مَا نَعْمَلُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ أَوْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ لَمْ يُفْرَغْ مِنْهُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَلْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ وَجَرَتْ بِهِ الْأَقْلَامُ يَا عُمَرُ وَلَكِنْ كُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو.

Urdu Translation

عمر بن خطاب رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   جب آیت «فمنهم شقي وسعيد» ”سو ان میں کوئی بدبخت ہو گا اور کوئی نیک بخت“ ( ہود: ۱۰۵ ) ، نازل ہوئی تو میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا: اللہ کے نبی! پھر ہم کس چیز کے موافق عمل کریں؟ کیا اس چیز کے موافق عمل کریں جس سے فراغت ہو چکی ہے ( یعنی جس کا فیصلہ پہلے ہی کیا جا چکا ہے ) ؟ یا ہم ایسی چیز پر عمل کریں جس سے ابھی فراغت نہیں ہوئی ہے۔ ( یعنی اس کا فیصلہ ہمارا عمل دیکھ کر کیا جائے گا ) آپ نے فرمایا: ”عمر! ہم اسی چیز کے موافق عمل کرتے ہیں جس سے فراغت ہو چکی ہے۔ ( اور ہمارے عمل سے پہلے ) وہ چیز ضبط تحریر میں آ چکی ہے ۲؎، لیکن بات صرف اتنی ہے کہ ہر شخص کے لیے وہی آسان ہے جس کے لیے وہ پیدا ہوا ہے“ ۳؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث اس سند سے حسن غریب ہے، ۲- ہم اسے صرف عبدالملک بن عمرو کی حدیث سے جانتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: that 'Umar bin Al-Khattab said: When this Ayah was revealed: Some among them will be wretches and (others) blessed (11:105). I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying: 'O Prophet of Allah! Based upon what are we then working; something that has already finished or something that has not yet happened?' He said: 'Rather something that has happened, and the Pens have already passed over it O 'Umar! But for everyone, what he has been created for is made easy.'
