Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Allah is more delighted with the repentance of one of you, than one of you is, when finding his lost animal.”

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَلَّهُ أَفْرَحُ بِتَوْبَةِ أَحَدِكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدِكُمْ بِضَالَّتِهِ إِذَا وَجَدَهَا . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالنُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏بِإِسْنَادٍ لَهُ عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏نَحْوَ هَذَا.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اللہ تعالیٰ اپنے بندے کی توبہ سے اس سے کہیں زیادہ خوش ہوتا ہے جتنا کہ کوئی شخص اپنی کھوئی ہوئی چیز ( خاص طور سے گمشدہ سواری کی اونٹنی پا کر خوش ہوتا ہے ) “۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث اس سند سے حسن صحیح غریب ہے، یعنی ابوالزناد کی روایت سے، ۲- یہ حدیث مکحول سے بھی ان کی اپنی سند سے آئی ہے، انہوں نے ابوذر کے واسطہ سے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اسی طرح کی حدیث روایت کی ہے، ۳- اس باب میں ابن مسعود، نعمان بن بشیر اور انس رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔
