Narrated 'Abdullah bin Shaqiq: I said to 'Aishah: 'Which of the Companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) were the most beloved to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)?' She said: 'Abu Bakr.' I said: 'Then who?' She said: 'Then Abu 'Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah.' He said: I said: 'Then who?'' He said: Then she was silent.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ عُمَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَسَكَتَتْ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

عبداللہ بن شقیق کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے عائشہ رضی الله عنہا سے پوچھا: صحابہ میں سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو سب سے زیادہ کون محبوب تھے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ابوبکر، میں نے پوچھا: پھر کون؟ انہوں نے کہا: عمر، میں نے پوچھا: پھر کون؟ کہا: پھر ابوعبیدہ بن جراح، میں نے پوچھا: پھر کون؟ تو وہ خاموش رہیں ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔
