Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Love Allah for what He nourishes you with of His Blessings, love me due to the love of Allah, and love the people of my house due to love of me.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْأَشْعَثِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ النَّوْفَلِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَحِبُّوا اللَّهَ لِمَا يَغْذُوكُمْ مِنْ نِعَمِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحِبُّونِي بِحُبِّ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحِبُّوا أَهْلَ بَيْتِي لِحُبِّي . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اللہ سے محبت کرو کیونکہ وہ تمہیں اپنی نعمتیں کھلا رہا ہے، اور محبت کرو مجھ سے اللہ کی خاطر، اور میرے اہل بیت سے میری خاطر“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ہم اسے صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں۔
