حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ الْوَرَّاقُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَافَرْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُثْمَانَ فَكَانُوا يُصَلُّونَ الظُّهْرَ وَالْعَصْرَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ لَا يُصَلُّونَ قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا . وقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ:‏‏‏‏ لَوْ كُنْتُ مُصَلِّيًا قَبْلَهَا أَوْ بَعْدَهَا لَأَتْمَمْتُهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلِيٍّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَائِشَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ. لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ مِثْلَ هَذَا. قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل:‏‏‏‏ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ آلِ سُرَاقَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتَطَوَّعُ فِي السَّفَرِ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ وَبَعْدَهَا وَقَدْ صَحَّ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْصُرُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُمَرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُثْمَانُ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلَافَتِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُتِمُّ الصَّلَاةَ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى مَا رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابِهِ. وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الشَّافِعِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاق. إِلَّا أَنَّ الشَّافِعِيَّ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ التَّقْصِيرُ رُخْصَةٌ لَهُ فِي السَّفَرِ فَإِنْ أَتَمَّ الصَّلَاةَ أَجْزَأَ عَنْهُ.

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ، ابوبکر، عمر اور عثمان رضی الله عنہم کے ساتھ سفر کیا، یہ لوگ ظہر اور عصر دو دو رکعت پڑھتے تھے۔ نہ اس سے پہلے کوئی نماز پڑھتے اور نہ اس کے بعد۔ عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں: اگر میں اس سے پہلے یا اس کے بعد ( سنت ) نماز پڑھتا تو میں انہی ( فرائض ) کو پوری پڑھتا۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عمر رضی الله عنہما کی حدیث حسن غریب ہے، ہم اسے اس طرح یحییٰ بن سلیم ہی کی روایت سے جانتے ہیں، ۲- محمد بن اسماعیل بخاری کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث بطریق: «عن عبيد الله بن عمر عن رجل من آل سراقة عن عبد الله بن عمر» بھی مروی ہے، ۳- اور عطیہ عوفی ابن عمر سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سفر میں نماز سے پہلے اور اس کے بعد نفل پڑھتے تھے ۱؎، ۴- اس باب میں عمر، علی، ابن عباس، انس، عمران بن حصین اور عائشہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۵- نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے یہ بھی ثابت ہے کہ آپ اور ابوبکر و عمر رضی الله عنہم سفر میں قصر کرتے تھے اور عثمان رضی الله عنہ بھی اپنی خلافت کے شروع میں قصر کرتے تھے، ۶- صحابہ کرام وغیرہم میں سے اکثر اہل علم کا عمل اسی پر ہے، ۷- اور عائشہ سے مروی ہے کہ وہ سفر میں نماز پوری پڑھتی تھیں ۲؎، ۸- اور عمل اسی پر ہے جو نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اور صحابہ کرام سے مروی ہے، یہی شافعی، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ کا قول ہے، البتہ شافعی کہتے ہیں کہ سفر میں قصر کرنا رخصت ہے، اگر کوئی پوری نماز پڑھ لے تو جائز ہے۔

English Translation

Ibn Umar narrated: I traveled with the Prophet, Abu Bakr, Umar, and Uthman; they would pray Zuhr and Asr as two Rak'ah and two Rak'ah, not praying before them nor after them. And Ibn Umar said: If I was going to pray before it or after it then I would pray it complete.
