Aishah narrated that : Hamzah bin Amr Al-Aslami asked the Messenger of Allah about fasting while traveling, and he fasted regularly. So the Messenger of Allah said: 'If you wish then fast, and if you wish then break (the fast).'

حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْحَاق الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، أَنَّ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الصَّوْمِ فِي السَّفَرِ وَكَانَ يَسْرُدُ الصَّوْمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَصُمْ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَأَفْطِرْ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَحَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الْأَسْلَمِيِّ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ حَمْزَةَ بْنَ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی الله عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ   حمزہ بن عمرو اسلمی رضی الله عنہ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سفر میں روزہ رکھنے کے بارے میں پوچھا، وہ خود مسلسل روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”چاہو تو رکھو اور چاہو تو نہ رکھو“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- عائشہ کی حدیث کہ حمزہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا، حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں انس بن مالک، ابو سعید خدری، عبداللہ بن مسعود، عبداللہ بن عمرو، ابو الدرداء اور حمزہ بن عمرو اسلمی رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں۔
