Narrated Ibn `Umar: The Prophet had forbidden the sale of dates till they were good (ripe), and when it was asked what it meant, the Prophet said, Till there is no danger of blight.

حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ بَيْعِ الثَّمَرَةِ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلَاحُهَا , وَكَانَ إِذَا سُئِلَ عَنْ صَلَاحِهَا ، قَالَ : حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ عَاهَتُهُ .

ہم سے حجاج بن منہال نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ ہم سے شعبہ نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ مجھے عبداللہ بن دینار نے خبر دی ‘ کہا کہ میں نے ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے سنا ‘ انہوں نے کہا کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کھجور کو ( درخت پر ) اس وقت تک بیچنے سے منع فرمایا ہے جب تک اس کی پختگی ظاہر نہ ہو۔ اور ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے جب پوچھتے کہ اس کی پختگی کیا ہے، وہ کہتے کہ جب یہ معلوم ہو جائے کہ اب یہ پھل آفت سے بچ رہے گا۔
