Sahih Bukhari 1894 - The Book Of As-Saum (The Fasting)

Baab Rozay Ke Masail Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ ، فَلَا يَرْفُثْ ، وَلَا يَجْهَلْ ، وَإِنِ امْرُؤٌ قَاتَلَهُ أَوْ شَاتَمَهُ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ ، يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ ، وَشَرَابَهُ ، وَشَهْوَتَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي الصِّيَامُ لِي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے عبداللہ بن مسلمہ قعنبی نے بیان کیا، ان سے امام مالک نے، ان سے ابوالزناد نے، ان سے اعرج نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا روزہ دوزخ سے بچنے کے لیے ایک ڈھال ہے اس لیے ( روزہ دار ) نہ فحش باتیں کرے اور نہ جہالت کی باتیں اور اگر کوئی شخص اس سے لڑے یا اسے گالی دے تو اس کا جواب صرف یہ ہونا چاہئے کہ میں روزہ دار ہوں، ( یہ الفاظ ) دو مرتبہ ( کہہ دے ) اس ذات کی قسم! جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جان ہے روزہ دار کے منہ کی بو اللہ کے نزدیک کستوری کی خوشبو سے بھی زیادہ پسندیدہ اور پاکیزہ ہے، ( اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے ) بندہ اپنا کھانا پینا اور اپنی شہوت میرے لیے چھوڑ دیتا ہے، روزہ میرے لیے ہے اور میں ہی اس کا بدلہ دوں گا اور ( دوسری ) نیکیوں کا ثواب بھی اصل نیکی کے دس گنا ہوتا ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter). So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, 'I am fasting. The Prophet added, By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times.
