Narrated Salama bin Al-Akwa`: The Prophet ordered a man from the tribe of Bani Aslam to announce amongst the people that whoever had eaten should fast the rest of the day, and whoever had not eaten should continue his fast, as that day was the day of 'Ashura' .

حَدَّثَنَا الْمَكِّيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : أَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَسْلَمَ أَنْ أَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ ، أَنَّ مَنْ كَانَ أَكَلَ فَلْيَصُمْ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَكَلَ فَلْيَصُمْ ، فَإِنَّ الْيَوْمَ يَوْمُ عَاشُورَاءَ .

ہم سے مکی بن ابراہیم نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے یزید بن ابی عبید نے بیان کیا، ان سے سلمہ بن اکوع رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بنو اسلم کے ایک شخص کو لوگوں میں اس بات کے اعلان کا حکم دیا تھا کہ جو کھا چکا ہو وہ دن کے باقی حصے میں بھی کھانے پینے سے رکا رہے اور جس نے نہ کھایا ہو اسے روزہ رکھ لینا چاہئے کیونکہ یہ عاشوراء کا دن ہے۔
