Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet forbade the selling of foodstuff before receiving it. I consider that all types of sellings should be done similarly.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : الَّذِي حَفِظْنَاهُ مِنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : أَمَّا الَّذِي نَهَى عَنْهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَهُوَ الطَّعَامُ أَنْ يُبَاعَ حَتَّى يُقْبَضَ ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : وَلَا أَحْسِبُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا مِثْلَهُ .

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، کہا جو کچھ ہم نے عمرو بن دینار سے (سن کر) یاد کر رکھا ہے (وہ یہ ہے کہ) انہوں نے طاؤس سے سنا، وہ کہتے تھے کہ   میں نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کو یہ فرماتے سنا تھا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جس چیز سے منع فرمایا تھا، وہ اس غلہ کی بیع تھی جس پر ابھی قبضہ نہ کیا گیا ہو، ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا، میں تو تمام چیزوں کو اسی کے حکم میں سمجھتا ہوں۔
