Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Once the Prophet embraced me (pressed me to his chest) and said, O Allah, teach him wisdom (i.e. the understanding of the knowledge of Qur'an). Narrated 'Abdul Warith: The same but said, O Allah, teach him (Ibn Abbas) the Book (i.e. the understanding of the knowledge of Qur'an). Narrated Khalid:As above.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : ضَمَّنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى صَدْرِهِ ، وَقَالَ : اللَّهُمَّ عَلِّمْهُ الْحِكْمَةَ . حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، وَقَالَ : عَلِّمْهُ الْكِتَابَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ مِثْلَهُ .

ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبدالوارث نے بیان کیا، ان سے خالد نے، ان سے عکرمہ نے کہ   ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا: مجھے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سینے سے لگایا اور فرمایا ”اے اللہ! اسے حکمت کا علم عطا فرما۔“
