Narrated Abu Huraira and Abu Sa`id: Allah's Apostle saw some expectoration on the wall of the mosque; he took gravel and scraped it off and said, If anyone of you wanted to spit he should neither spit in front of him nor on his right but he could spit either on his left or under his left foot.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَأَبَا سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَاهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي جِدَارِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَتَنَاوَلَ حَصَاةً فَحَكَّهَا ، فَقَالَ : إِذَا تَنَخَّمَ أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلَا يَتَنَخَّمَنَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ ، وَلَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَلْيَبْصُقْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ الْيُسْرَى .

ہم سے سعید بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے ابراہیم بن سعد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہمیں ابن شہاب نے حمید بن عبدالرحمٰن کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا کہ ابوہریرہ اور ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہما نے انہیں خبر دی کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مسجد کی دیوار پر بلغم دیکھا، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک کنکری لی اور اسے صاف کر دیا۔ پھر فرمایا کہ جب تم میں سے کوئی شخص تھوکے تو اسے اپنے منہ کے سامنے یا دائیں طرف نہیں تھوکنا چاہیے، البتہ بائیں طرف یا اپنے پاؤں کے نیچے تھوک لے۔
