حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدٌ ، أَنَّهُ , سَمِعَ أَنَسًا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، يَقُولُ : أَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ خَيْبَرَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ يُبْنَى عَلَيْهِ بِصَفِيَّةَ ، فَدَعَوْتُ الْمُسْلِمِينَ إِلَى وَلِيمَتِهِ وَمَا كَانَ فِيهَا مِنْ خُبْزٍ وَلَا لَحْمٍ ، وَمَا كَانَ فِيهَا إِلَّا أَنْ أَمَرَ بِلَالًا بِالْأَنْطَاعِ ، فَبُسِطَتْ ، فَأَلْقَى عَلَيْهَا التَّمْرَ وَالْأَقِطَ وَالسَّمْنَ ، فَقَالَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ : إِحْدَى أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُهُ ، قَالُوا : إِنْ حَجَبَهَا فَهِيَ إِحْدَى أُمَّهَاتِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَحْجُبْهَا فَهِيَ مِمَّا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُهُ ، فَلَمَّا ارْتَحَلَ وَطَّأَ لَهَا خَلْفَهُ وَمَدَّ الْحِجَابَ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے سعید بن ابی مریم نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم کو محمد بن جعفر بن ابی کثیر نے خبر دی ‘ کہا کہ مجھے حمید نے خبر دی اور انہوں نے انس بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا ‘ وہ بیان کرتے تھے کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مدینہ اور خیبر کے درمیان ( مقام سد الصہباء میں ) تین دن تک قیام فرمایا اور وہیں صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے خلوت کی تھی پھر میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی طرف سے مسلمانوں کو ولیمہ کی دعوت دی۔ آپ کے ولیمہ میں نہ روٹی تھی ‘ نہ گوشت تھا صرف اتنا ہوا کہ آپ نے بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کو دستر خوان بچھانے کا حکم دیا اور وہ بچھا دیا گیا۔ پھر اس پر کھجور ‘ پنیر اور گھی ( کا ملیدہ ) رکھ دیا۔ مسلمانوں نے کہا کہ صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا امہات المؤمنین میں سے ہیں یا باندی ہیں؟ کچھ لوگوں نے کہا کہ اگر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں پردے میں رکھا تو وہ امہات المؤمنین میں سے ہوں گی اور اگر آپ نے انہیں پردے میں نہیں رکھا تو پھر یہ اس کی علامت ہو گی کہ وہ باندی ہیں۔ آخر جب کوچ کا وقت ہوا تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کے لیے اپنی سواری پر پیچھے بیٹھنے کی جگہ بنائی اور ان کے لیے پردہ کیا۔

English Translation

Narrated Anas: The Prophet stayed for three rights between Khaibar and Medina and was married to Safiya. I invited the Muslim to h s marriage banquet and there wa neither meat nor bread in that banquet but the Prophet ordered Bilal to spread the leather mats on which dates, dried yogurt and butter were put. The Muslims said amongst themselves, Will she (i.e. Safiya) be one of the mothers of the believers, (i.e. one of the wives of the Prophet ) or just (a lady captive) of what his right-hand possesses Some of them said, If the Prophet makes her observe the veil, then she will be one of the mothers of the believers (i.e. one of the Prophet's wives), and if he does not make her observe the veil, then she will be his lady slave. So when he departed, he made a place for her behind him (on his and made her observe the veil.
