Sahih Bukhari 427 - The Book Of As-Salat (The Prayer)

Baab Namaz Ke Ehkaam O Masail

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ ، وَأُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ذَكَرَتَا كَنِيسَةً رَأَيْنَهَا بِالْحَبَشَةِ فِيهَا تَصَاوِيرُ ، فَذَكَرَتَا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أُولَئِكَ إِذَا كَانَ فِيهِمُ الرَّجُلُ الصَّالِحُ فَمَاتَ ، بَنَوْا عَلَى قَبْرِهِ مَسْجِدًا وَصَوَّرُوا فِيهِ تِلْكَ الصُّوَرَ ، فَأُولَئِكَ شِرَارُ الْخَلْقِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے محمد بن مثنی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یحییٰ بن سعید قطان نے ہشام بن عروہ کے واسطہ سے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھے میرے باپ نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے یہ خبر پہنچائی کہ   ام حبیبہ اور ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہما دونوں نے ایک کلیسا کا ذکر کیا جسے انہوں نے حبشہ میں دیکھا تو اس میں مورتیں ( تصویریں ) تھیں۔ انہوں نے اس کا تذکرہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بھی کیا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ان کا یہ قاعدہ تھا کہ اگر ان میں کوئی نیکوکار ( نیک ) شخص مر جاتا تو وہ لوگ اس کی قبر پر مسجد بناتے اور اس میں یہی مورتیں ( تصویریں ) بنا دیتے پس یہ لوگ اللہ کی درگاہ میں قیامت کے دن تمام مخلوق میں برے ہوں گے۔

English Translation

Narrated `Aisha: Um Habiba and Um Salama mentioned about a church they had seen in Ethiopia in which there were pictures. They told the Prophet about it, on which he said, If any religious man dies amongst those people they would build a place of worship at his grave and make these pictures in it. They will be the worst creature in the sight of Allah on the Day of Resurrection.
