حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ : وَكَانَ بَيْنَهُمَا شَيْءٌ ، فَغَدَوْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَتُرِيدُ أَنْ تُقَاتِلَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ فَتُحِلَّ حَرَمَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ : مَعَاذَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَتَبَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ وَبَنِي أُمَيَّةَ مُحِلِّينَ ، وَإِنِّي وَاللَّهِ لَا أُحِلُّهُ أَبَدًا ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّاسُ : بَايِعْ لِابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، فَقُلْتُ : وَأَيْنَ بِهَذَا الْأَمْرِ عَنْهُ أَمَّا أَبُوهُ فَحَوَارِيُّ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرِيدُ الزُّبَيْرَ ، وَأَمَّا جَدُّهُ فَصَاحِبُ الْغَارِ يُرِيدُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَأُمُّهُ فَذَاتُ النِّطَاقِ يُرِيدُ أَسْمَاءَ ، وَأَمَّا خَالَتُهُ فَأُمُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُرِيدُ عَائِشَةَ ، وَأَمَّا عَمَّتُهُ فَزَوْجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرِيدُ خَدِيجَةَ ، وَأَمَّا عَمَّةُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَدَّتُهُ يُرِيدُ صَفِيَّةَ ، ثُمَّ عَفِيفٌ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ قَارِئٌ لِلْقُرْآنِ ، وَاللَّهِ إِنْ وَصَلُونِي وَصَلُونِي مِنْ قَرِيبٍ ، وَإِنْ رَبُّونِي رَبُّونِي أَكْفَاءٌ كِرَامٌ ، فَآثَرَ التُّوَيْتَاتِ وَالْأُسَامَاتِ وَالْحُمَيْدَاتِ ، يُرِيدُ أَبْطُنًا مِنْ بَنِي أَسَدٍ ، بَنِي تُوَيْتٍ ، وَبَنِي أُسَامَةَ ، وَبَنِي أَسَدٍ ، إِنَّ ابْنَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بَرَزَ يَمْشِي الْقُدَمِيَّةَ يَعْنِي عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ ، وَإِنَّهُ لَوَّى ذَنَبَهُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ .

Urdu Translation

مجھ سے عبداللہ بن محمد جعفی نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے یحییٰ ابن معین نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے حجاج بن محمد نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابن جریج نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابن ابی ملیکہ نے بیان کیا کہ   ابن عباس اور ابن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہم کے درمیان بیعت کا جھگڑا پیدا ہو گیا تھا۔ میں صبح کو ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کیا آپ عبداللہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہما سے جنگ کرنا چاہتے ہیں، اس کے باوجود کہ اللہ کے حرم کی بےحرمتی ہو گی؟ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا: معاذاللہ! یہ تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ابن زبیر اور بنو امیہ ہی کے مقدر میں لکھ دیا ہے کہ وہ حرم کی بےحرمتی کریں۔ اللہ کی قسم! میں کسی صورت میں بھی اس بےحرمتی کے لیے تیار نہیں ہوں۔ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ لوگوں نے مجھ سے کہا تھا کہ ابن زبیر سے بیعت کر لو۔ میں نے ان سے کہا کہ مجھے ان کی خلافت کو تسلیم کرنے میں کیا تامل ہو سکتا ہے، ان کے والد نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے حواری تھے، آپ کی مراد زبیر بن عوام سے تھی۔ ان کے نانا صاحب غار تھے، اشارہ ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ کی طرف تھا۔ ان کی والدہ صاحب نطاقین تھیں یعنی اسماء رضی اللہ عنہا۔ ان کی خالہ ام المؤمنین تھیں، مراد عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے تھی۔ ان کی پھوپھی نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زوجہ مطہرہ تھیں، مراد خدیجہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے تھی۔ ابن عباس کی مراد ان باتوں سے یہ تھی کہ وہ بہت سی خوبیوں کے مالک ہیں اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی پھوپھی ان کی دادی ہیں، اشارہ صفیہ رضی اللہ عنہا کی طرف تھا۔ اس کے علاوہ وہ خود اسلام میں ہمیشہ صاف کردار اور پاک دامن رہے اور قرآن کے عالم ہیں اور اللہ کی قسم! اگر وہ مجھ سے اچھا برتاؤ کریں تو ان کو کرنا ہی چاہئے وہ میرے بہت قریب کے رشتہ دار ہیں اور اگر وہ مجھ پر حکومت کریں تو خیر حکومت کریں وہ ہمارے برابر کے عزت والے ہیں۔ لیکن عبداللہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہما نے تو تویت، اسامہ اور حمید کے لوگوں کو ہم پر ترجیح دی ہے۔ ان کی مراد مختلف قبائل یعنی بنو اسد، بنو تویت، بنو اسامہ اور بنو اسد سے تھی۔ ادھر ابن ابی العاص بڑی عمدگی سے چل رہا ہے یعنی عبدالملک بن مروان مسلسل پیش قدمی کر رہا ہے اور عبداللہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہما نے اس کے سامنے دم دبا لی ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Ibn Abi Mulaika: There was a disagreement between them (i.e. Ibn `Abbas and Ibn Az-Zubair) so I went to Ibn `Abbas in the morning and said (to him), Do you want to fight against Ibn Zubair and thus make lawful what Allah has made unlawful (i.e. fighting in Meccas? Ibn `Abbas said, Allah forbid! Allah ordained that Ibn Zubair and Bani Umaiya would permit (fighting in Mecca), but by Allah, I will never regard it as permissible. Ibn `Abbas added. The people asked me to take the oath of allegiance to Ibn AzZubair. I said, 'He is really entitled to assume authority for his father, Az-Zubair was the helper of the Prophet, his (maternal) grandfather, Abu Bakr was (the Prophet's) companion in the cave, his mother, Asma' was 'Dhatun-Nitaq', his aunt, `Aisha was the mother of the Believers, his paternal aunt, Khadija was the wife of the Prophet , and the paternal aunt of the Prophet was his grandmother. He himself is pious and chaste in Islam, well versed in the Knowledge of the Qur'an. By Allah! (Really, I left my relatives, Bani Umaiya for his sake though) they are my close relatives, and if they should be my rulers, they are equally apt to be so and are descended from a noble family.
