Narrated Sa`id bin Jubair: `Abdur-Rahman bin Abza ordered me to ask Ibn `Abbas regarding the two Verses (the first of which was ): And whosoever murders a believer intentionally. (4.93) So I asked him, and he said, Nothing has abrogated this Verse. About (the other Verse): 'And those who invoke not with Allah any other god.' he said, It was revealed concerning the pagans.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : أَمَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبْزَى ، أَنْ أَسْأَلَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ هَاتَيْنِ الْآيَتَيْنِ : وَمَنْ يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُتَعَمِّدًا سورة النساء آية 93 ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : لَمْ يَنْسَخْهَا شَيْءٌ وَعَنْ وَالَّذِينَ لا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ سورة الفرقان آية 68 ، قَالَ : نَزَلَتْ فِي أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ .

ہم سے عبدان نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ کو میرے والد نے خبر دی، انہیں شعبہ نے، انہیں منصور نے، ان سے سعید بن جبیر نے بیان کیا کہ   مجھے عبدالرحمٰن بن ابزیٰ نے حکم دیا کہ میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے دو آیتوں کے بارے میں پوچھوں یعنی «ومن يقتل مؤمنا متعمدا‏» ”اور جس نے کسی مومن کو جان بوجھ کر قتل کیا“ الخ۔ میں نے ان سے پوچھا تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ یہ آیت کسی چیز سے بھی منسوخ نہیں ہوئی ہے۔ ( اور دوسری آیت جس کے ) بارے میں مجھے انہوں نے پوچھنے کا حکم دیا وہ یہ تھی «والذين لا يدعون مع الله إلها آخر‏» ”اور جو لوگ کسی معبود کو اللہ کے ساتھ نہیں پکارتے“ آپ نے اس کے متعلق فرمایا کہ یہ مشرکین کے بارے میں نازل ہوئی تھی۔
