حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ فَتْرَةِ الْوَحْيِ ، فَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : فَبَيْنَا أَنَا أَمْشِي إِذْ سَمِعْتُ صَوْتًا مِنَ السَّمَاءِ ، فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي فَإِذَا الْمَلَكُ الَّذِي جَاءَنِي بِحِرَاءٍ جَالِسٌ عَلَى كُرْسِيٍّ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ ، فَجَئِثْتُ مِنْهُ رُعْبًا ، فَرَجَعْتُ ، فَقُلْتُ : زَمِّلُونِي زَمِّلُونِي فَدَثَّرُونِي ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى يَأَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ إِلَى وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ سورة المدثر آية 1 - 5 قَبْلَ أَنْ تُفْرَضَ الصَّلَاةُ وَهِيَ الْأَوْثَانُ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے یحییٰ بن بکیر نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے لیث بن سعد نے بیان کیا، ان سے عقیل نے، ان سے ابن شہاب نے (دوسری سند) اور مجھ سے عبداللہ بن محمد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے عبدالرزاق نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم کو معمر نے خبر دی، انہیں زہری نے خبر دی، کہا مجھ کو ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن نے خبر دی اور ان سے جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ   میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا، نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم درمیان میں وحی کا سلسلہ رک جانے کا حال بیان فرما رہے تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ میں رو رہا تھا کہ میں نے آسمان کی طرف سے آواز سنی۔ میں نے اپنا سر اوپر اٹھایا تو وہی فرشتہ نظر آیا جو میرے پاس غار حرا میں آیا تھا۔ وہ آسمان و زمین کے درمیان کرسی پر بیٹھا ہوا تھا۔ میں اس کے ڈر سے گھبرا گیا پھر میں گھر واپس آیا اور خدیجہ سے کہا کہ مجھے کپڑا اوڑھا دو، مجھے کپڑا اوڑھا دو۔ انہوں نے مجھے کپڑا اوڑھا دیا پھر اللہ تعالیٰ نے آیت «يا أيها المدثر‏» سے «والرجز فاهجر‏» تک نازل کی۔ یہ سورت نماز فرض کئے جانے سے پہلے نازل ہوئی تھی «الرجز‏» سے مراد بت ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: I heard the Prophet describing the period of pause of the Divine Inspiration. He said in his talk, While I was walking, I heard voices from the sky. I looked up, and behold ! I saw the same Angel who came to me in the cave of Hira' sitting on a chair between the sky and the earth. I was too much afraid of him (so I returned to my house) and said, 'Fold me up in garments!' They wrapped me up. Then Allah revealed: 'O you wrapped...and desert the idols before the prayer became compulsory.' Rujz means idols.
