Narrated Abu Dhar: The Mu'adh-dhin (call-maker) of the Prophet pronounced the Adhan (call) for the Zuhr prayer but the Prophet said, Let it be cooler, let it be cooler. Or said, 'Wait, wait, because the severity of heat is from the raging of the Hell-fire. In severe hot weather, pray when it becomes (a bit) cooler and the shadows of hillocks appear.

حَدَّثَنَا بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ الْمُهَاجِرِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ ، سَمِعَ زَيْدَ بْنَ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ ، فَقَالَ : أَبْرِدْ أَبْرِدْ ، أَوْ قَالَ : انْتَظِرِ انْتَظِرْ ، وَقَالَ : شِدَّةُ الْحَرِّ مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ ، فَإِذَا اشْتَدَّ الْحَرُّ فَأَبْرِدُوا عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ حَتَّى رَأَيْنَا فَيْءَ التُّلُولِ .

ہم سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے غندر محمد بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، ان سے شعبہ بن حجاج نے مہاجر ابوالحسن کی روایت سے بیان کیا، انہوں نے زید بن وہب ہمدانی سے سنا۔ انہوں نے ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ سے   کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے مؤذن ( بلال ) نے ظہر کی اذان دی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ٹھنڈا کر، ٹھنڈا کر، یا یہ فرمایا کہ انتظار کر، انتظار کر، اور فرمایا کہ گرمی کی تیزی جہنم کی آگ کی بھاپ سے ہے۔ اس لیے جب گرمی سخت ہو جائے تو نماز ٹھنڈے وقت میں پڑھا کرو، پھر ظہر کی اذان اس وقت کہی گئی جب ہم نے ٹیلوں کے سائے دیکھ لیے۔
