Narrated Abu Umama: Whenever the dining sheet of the Prophet was taken away (i.e., whenever he finished his meal), he used to say: Al-hamdu li l-lah kathiran taiyiban mubarakan fihi ghaira makfiy wala muWada` wala mustaghna'anhu Rabbuna.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ ثَوْرٍ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا رَفَعَ مَائِدَتَهُ ، قَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ غَيْرَ مَكْفِيٍّ وَلَا مُوَدَّعٍ وَلَا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا .

ہم سے ابونعیم نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، ان سے ثور نے، ان سے خالد بن معدان نے اور ان سے ابوامامہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے سے جب کھانا اٹھایا جاتا تو آپ یہ دعا پڑھتے «الحمد لله كثيرا طيبا مباركا فيه،‏‏‏‏ ‏‏‏‏ غير مكفي،‏‏‏‏ ولا مودع ولا مستغنى عنه،‏‏‏‏ ربنا» ”تمام تعریفیں اللہ کے لیے، بہت زیادہ پاکیزہ برکت والی، ہم اس کھانے کا حق پوری طرح ادا نہ کر سکے اور یہ ہمیشہ کے لیے رخصت نہیں کیا گیا ہے ( اور یہ اس لیے کہا تاکہ ) اس سے ہم کو بےپرواہی کا خیال نہ ہو، اے ہمارے رب!۔“
