Narrated Salim: that Ibn `Umar disliked the branding of animals on the face. Ibn `Umar said, The Prophet forbade beating (animals) on the face.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ أَنْ تُعْلَمَ الصُّورَةُ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُضْرَبَ . تَابَعَهُ قُتَيْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَنقْزِيُّ ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ ، وَقَالَ : تُضْرَبُ الصُّورَةُ .

ہم سے عبیداللہ بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا، ان سے حنظلہ نے، ان سے سالم نے، ان سے ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ   وہ چہرے پر نشان لگانے کو ناپسند کرتے تھے اور ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چہرے پر مارنے سے منع کیا ہے۔ عبیداللہ بن موسیٰ کے ساتھ اس حدیث کو قتیبہ بن سعید نے بھی روایت کیا، کہا ہم کو عمرو بن محمد عنقزی نے خبر دی، انہوں نے حنظلہ سے۔
