Narrated Anas: that he was asked about the wages of the one who cups others. He said, 'Allah's Apostle was cupped by `Abd Taiba, to whom he gave two Sa of food and interceded for him with his masters who consequently reduced what they used to charge him daily. Then the Prophet s said, The best medicines you may treat yourselves with are cupping and sea incense.' He added, You should not torture your children by treating tonsillitis by pressing the tonsils or the palate with the finger, but use incense.

Comments on Sahih Bukhari 5696

This hadith tells us about the significance of cupping or hijama in Islam. It gives us the guidance that hijama is the sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as he also adopted this treatment method for himself. It is a reason that he also recommended it to his Sahabas as a beneficial treatment. When talk about the benefits of hijama cupping, it is a great natural healing therapy that removes toxins from our body. There are different hijama cupping methods such as dry cupping and wet cupping. In dry cupping, the vacuum is developed in a cup and put on the body and it eventually draws blood to the cupped area. In the next step, the cup is removed to make shallow and small incisions in the same area. However, it is known as wet cupping or blood cupping as it pulls all excessive fluids, acids, and toxic bloods from the body.
