Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle used to seek refuge with Allah from the difficult moment of a calamity and from being overtaken by destruction and from being destined to an evil end, and from the malicious joy of enemies. Sufyan said, This narration contained three items only, but I added one. I do not know which one that was.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي سُمَيٌّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ جَهْدِ الْبَلَاءِ ، وَدَرَكِ الشَّقَاءِ ، وَسُوءِ الْقَضَاءِ ، وَشَمَاتَةِ الْأَعْدَاءِ ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : الْحَدِيثُ ثَلَاثٌ زِدْتُ أَنَا وَاحِدَةً ، لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّتُهُنَّ هِيَ .

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ مدینی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان بن عیینہ نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ سے سمی نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوصالح نے اور ان سے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مصیبت کی سختی، تباہی تک پہنچ جانے، قضاء و قدر کی برائی اور دشمنوں کے خوش ہونے سے پناہ مانگتے تھے اور سفیان نے کہا کہ حدیث میں تین صفات کا بیان تھا۔ ایک میں نے بھلا دی تھی اور مجھے یاد نہیں کہ وہ ایک کون سی صفت ہے۔
