Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet said, Who among you considers the wealth of his heirs dearer to him than his own wealth? They replied, O Allah's Apostle! There is none among us but loves his own wealth more. The Prophet said, So his wealth is whatever he spends (in Allah's Cause) during his life (on good deeds) while the wealth of his heirs is whatever he leaves after his death.

حَدَّثَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ التَّيْمِيُّ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ ، قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَيُّكُمْ مَالُ وَارِثِهِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ مَالِهِ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا مِنَّا أَحَدٌ إِلَّا مَالُهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّ مَالَهُ مَا قَدَّمَ ، وَمَالُ وَارِثِهِ مَا أَخَّرَ .

مجھ سے عمر بن حفص نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ سے میرے والد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اعمش نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے ابراہیم تیمی نے بیان کیا، ان سے حارث بن سوید نے کہ عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”تم میں کون ہے جسے اپنے مال سے زیادہ اپنے وارث کا مال پیارا ہو۔“ صحابہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہم میں کوئی ایسا نہیں جسے مال زیادہ پیارا نہ ہو۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”پھر اس کا مال وہ ہے جو اس نے ( موت سے ) پہلے ( اللہ کے راستہ میں خرچ ) کیا اور اس کے وارث کا مال وہ ہے جو وہ چھوڑ کر مرا۔“
