حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَهَبَ إِلَى بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ لِيُصْلِحَ بَيْنَهُمْ ، فَحَانَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَجَاءَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، فَقَالَ : أَتُصَلِّي لِلنَّاسِ فَأُقِيمَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَصَلَّى أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالنَّاسُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَتَخَلَّصَ حَتَّى وَقَفَ فِي الصَّفِّ ، فَصَفَّقَ النَّاسُ ، وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لَا يَلْتَفِتُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ ، فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَ النَّاسُ التَّصْفِيقَ الْتَفَتَ فَرَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِ امْكُثْ مَكَانَكَ ، فَرَفَعَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَدَيْهِ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ عَلَى مَا أَمَرَهُ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَأْخَرَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَتَّى اسْتَوَى فِي الصَّفّ ، وَتَقَدَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ ، قَالَ : يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ ، مَا مَنَعَكَ أَنْ تَثْبُتَ إِذْ أَمَرْتُكَ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : مَا كَانَ لِابْنِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا لِي رَأَيْتُكُمْ أَكْثَرْتُمُ التَّصْفِيقَ مَنْ رَابَهُ شَيْءٌ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيُسَبِّحْ ، فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا سَبَّحَ الْتُفِتَ إِلَيْهِ ، وَإِنَّمَا التَّصْفِيقُ لِلنِّسَاءِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہمیں امام مالک نے ابوحازم سلمہ بن دینار سے خبر دی، انہوں نے سہل بن سعد ساعدی (صحابی رضی اللہ عنہ) سے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بنی عمرو بن عوف میں ( قباء میں ) صلح کرانے کے لیے گئے، پس نماز کا وقت آ گیا۔ مؤذن ( بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے ) ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ سے آ کر کہا کہ کیا آپ نماز پڑھائیں گے۔ میں تکبیر کہوں۔ ابوبکر رضی اللہ نے فرمایا کہ ہاں چنانچہ ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے نماز شروع کر دی۔ اتنے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف لے آئے تو لوگ نماز میں تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم صفوں سے گزر کر پہلی صف میں پہنچے۔ لوگوں نے ایک ہاتھ کو دوسرے پر مارا ( تاکہ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی آمد پر آگاہ ہو جائیں ) لیکن ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نماز میں کسی طرف توجہ نہیں دیتے تھے۔ جب لوگوں نے متواتر ہاتھ پر ہاتھ مارنا شروع کیا تو صدیق اکبر رضی اللہ عنہ متوجہ ہوئے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اشارہ سے انہیں اپنی جگہ رہنے کے لیے کہا۔ ( کہ نماز پڑھائے جاؤ ) لیکن انہوں نے اپنے ہاتھ اٹھا کر اللہ کا شکر کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کو امامت کا اعزاز بخشا، پھر بھی وہ پیچھے ہٹ گئے اور صف میں شامل ہو گئے۔ اس لیے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے آگے بڑھ کر نماز پڑھائی۔ نماز سے فارغ ہو کر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ابوبکر جب میں نے آپ کو حکم دے دیا تھا پھر آپ ثابت قدم کیوں نہ رہے۔ ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ بولے کہ ابوقحافہ کے بیٹے ( یعنی ابوبکر ) کی یہ حیثیت نہ تھی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے نماز پڑھا سکیں۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگوں کی طرف خطاب کرتے ہوئے فرمایا کہ عجیب بات ہے۔ میں نے دیکھا کہ تم لوگ بکثرت تالیاں بجا رہے تھے۔ ( یاد رکھو ) اگر نماز میں کوئی بات پیش آ جائے تو سبحان اللہ کہنا چاہئے جب وہ یہ کہے گا تو اس کی طرف توجہ کی جائے گی اور یہ تالی بجانا عورتوں کے لیے ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Sahl bin Sa`d As-Sa`idi: Allah's Apostle went to establish peace among Bani `Amr bin `Auf. In the meantime the time of prayer was due and the Mu'adh-dhin went to Abu Bakr and said, Will you lead the prayer, so that I may pronounce the Iqama? Abu Bakr replied in the affirmative and led the prayer. Allah's Apostle came while the people were still praying and he entered the rows of the praying people till he stood in the (first row). The people clapped their hands. Abu Bakr never glanced sideways in his prayer but when the people continued clapping, Abu Bakr looked and saw Allah's Apostle. Allah's Apostle beckoned him to stay at his place. Abu Bakr raised his hands and thanked Allah for that order of Allah's Apostle and then he retreated till he reached the first row. Allah's Apostle went forward and led the prayer. When Allah's Apostle finished the prayer, he said, O Abu Bakr! What prevented you from staying when I ordered you to do so? Abu Bakr replied, How can Ibn Abi Quhafa (Abu Bakr) dare to lead the prayer in the presence of Allah's Apostle? Then Allah's Apostle said, Why did you clap so much? If something happens to anyone during his prayer he should say Subhan Allah. If he says so he will be attended to, for clapping is for women.
