Tawus reported: We asked Ibn Abbas about sitting on one's buttocks (in prayer). (ala alqad mein) He said: It is sunnah. We said to him: We find it a sort of cruelty to the foot. Ibn 'Abbas said: It is the sunnah of your Apostle ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ).

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، ح قَالَ: وَحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ - وَتَقَارَبَا فِي اللَّفْظِ - قَالَا: جَمِيعًا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا يَقُولُ: قُلْنَا لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الْإِقْعَاءِ عَلَى الْقَدَمَيْنِ، فَقَالَ: «هِيَ السُّنَّةُ»، فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: إِنَّا لَنَرَاهُ جَفَاءً بِالرَّجُلِ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: «بَلْ هِيَ سُنَّةُ نَبِيِّكَ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

  حضرت طاوس بیان کرتے ہیں کہ ہم نے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنھماسےدونوں پیروں پربیٹھنے کے بارے میں پو چھا تو انھوں نے جواب دیا : یہ سنت ہے ۔ ہم نے ان سے عرض کی : ہمارا تو خیال ہے کہ یہ انسان ( یا اگر را کی زیرکے ساتھ رجل پڑھا جائے تو پاؤں ) پرزیاتی ہے ۔ ابن عباسﷺنے کہا : ( نہیں ) بلکہ یہ تمہارے بنی ﷺکی سنت ہے ۔
