حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ: «كُنَّا نَعْزِلُ، وَالْقُرْآنُ يَنْزِلُ»، زَادَ إِسْحَاقُ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: لَوْ كَانَ شَيْئًا يُنْهَى عَنْهُ لَنَهَانَا عَنْهُ الْقُرْآنُ

Urdu Translation

  ہمیں ابوبکر بن ابی شیبہ اور اسحاق بن ابراہیم نے حدیث بیان کی ، ( انہوں نے کہا ) ہمیں سفیان نے عمرو سے حدیث بیان کی ، انہوں نے عطاء سے اور انہوں نے حضرت جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے کہا : ہم عزل کرتے تھے جبکہ قرآن نازل ہو رہا ہوتا تھا ۔ اسحاق نے اضافہ کیا : سفیان نے کہا : اگر یہ ایسی چیز ہوتی جس سے منع کیا جانا ( ضروری ) ہوتا تو قرآن ہمیں ( ضرور ) اس سے منع کرتا

English Translation

Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) reported: We used to practise 'azl while the Qur'an was revealed (during the days when the Prophet was alive).
