Baab Libaas Aur Zeenat Ke Ehkaam

و حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي كَامِلٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَصَمِّ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بِجُبَّةِ سُنْدُسٍ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بَعَثْتَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ قَالَ إِنِّي لَمْ أَبْعَثْ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَلْبَسَهَا وَإِنَّمَا بَعَثْتُ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَنْتَفِعَ بِثَمَنِهَا

Urdu Translation

  حضرت انس بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے پاس سُندس ( باریک ریشم ) کا ایک جبہ بھیجا ، حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نےکہا : آپ نے میرے پاس یہ جبہ بھیجا ہے ۔ حالانکہ آپ نے اس کے متعلق ( پہلے ) جو فرمایاتھا وہ فرماچکے ہیں؟آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " میں نے یہ تمھارے پاس اس لئے نہیں بھیجا کہ تم اس کو پہنو ، میں نے تمھارے پاس اس لیے بھیجا ہے کہ تم اس کی قیمت سے فائدہ اٹھاؤ ۔ "

English Translation

Anas b. Malik reported that Allah's Messenger (may Peace be upon him) sent a silk gown to 'Umar, whereupon 'Umar said: You sent it to me whereas you said what you had to, say (i. e. it is forbidden for men). Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: I did not send it to you so that you might wear it, but I sent it to you so that you might derive benefit from its price.
