Baab Tauba Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا وَائِلٍ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ قُلْتُ لَهُ آنْتَ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَرَفَعَهُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا أَحَدٌ أَغْيَرَ مِنْ اللَّهِ وَلِذَلِكَ حَرَّمَ الْفَوَاحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَلَا أَحَدٌ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ الْمَدْحُ مِنْ اللَّهِ وَلِذَلِكَ مَدَحَ نَفْسَهُ

Urdu Translation

  عمرو بن مرہ نے کہا : میں نے ابووائل کو کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ میں نے حضرت عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کو یہ کہتے ہوئے سنا ، وہ کہتے تھے ۔ ۔ ( عمرو بن مرہ نے ) کہا : میں نے ان ( ابووائل ) سے کہا : کیا آپ نے خود عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا تھا؟ انہوں نے کہا : ہاں ۔ اور انہوں نے اسے مرفوعا بیان کیا : ۔ ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " اللہ سے بڑھ کر کوئی غیرت مند نہیں ، اسی لیے اس نے تمام کھلی اور پوشیدہ فواحش ( بے حیائی کی باتیں ) حرام کر دیں اور اللہ سے بڑھ کر کسی کو مدح پسند نہیں ( کیونکہ حقیقت میں وہی مدح کا حقدار ہے ) ، اسی لیے اس نے اپنی مدح فرمائی ہے ۔ "

English Translation

Abdullah b. Mas'ud reported it directly from Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) that he said: None is more self-respecting than Allah and it is because of this that He has prohibited abominable acts-both visible and invisible and nothing is loved by Allah more than the praise of His Ownself and it is because of this that He has praised Himself.
