حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شِهَابُ بْنُ خِرَاشٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي شُعَيْبُ بْنُ زُرَيْقٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَلَسْتُ إِلَى رَجُلٍ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يُقَالُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ حَزْنٍ الْكُلَفِيُّ فَأَنْشَأَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يُحَدِّثُنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفَدْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَابِعَ سَبْعَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ تَاسِعَ تِسْعَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏زُرْنَاكَ فَادْعُ اللَّهَ لَنَا بِخَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَمَرَ بِنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ أَمَرَ لَنَا بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ التَّمْرِ وَالشَّأْنُ إِذْ ذَاكَ دُونٌ فَأَقَمْنَا بِهَا أَيَّامًا شَهِدْنَا فِيهَا الْجُمُعَةَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَامَ مُتَوَكِّئًا عَلَى عَصًا أَوْ قَوْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ كَلِمَاتٍ خَفِيفَاتٍ طَيِّبَاتٍ مُبَارَكَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّكُمْ لَنْ تُطِيقُوا أَوْ لَنْ تَفْعَلُوا كُلَّ مَا أُمِرْتُمْ بِهِ وَلَكِنْ سَدِّدُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا . قَالَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْت أَبُو دَاوُد، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ثَبَّتَنِي فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِنَا وَقَدْ كَانَ انْقَطَعَ مِنَ الْقِرْطَاسِ.

Urdu Translation

شہاب بن خراش کہتے ہیں کہ   شعیب بن زریق طائفی نے مجھ سے بیان کیا ہے کہ میں ایک شخص کے پاس ( جسے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے شرف صحبت حاصل تھا، اور جسے حکم بن حزن کلفی کہا جاتا تھا ) بیٹھا تو وہ ہم سے بیان کرنے لگا کہ میں ایک وفد میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، میں اس وفد کا ساتواں یا نواں آدمی تھا، ہم آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آئے تو ہم نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! ہم نے آپ کی زیارت کی ہے تو آپ ہمارے لیے خیر و بہتری کی دعا فرما دیجئیے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کچھ کھجوریں ہم کو دینے کا حکم دیا اور حالت اس وقت ناگفتہ بہ تھی، پھر ہم وہاں کچھ روز ٹھہرے رہے، ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ جمعہ میں بھی حاضر رہے، آپ ایک عصا یا کمان پر ٹیک لگا کر کھڑے ہوئے چند ہلکے، پاکیزہ اور مبارک کلمات کے ذریعہ اللہ کی حمد و ثنا بیان کی پھر فرمایا: لوگو! تم سارے احکام کو جن کا تمہیں حکم دیا جائے بجا لانے کی ہرگز طاقت نہیں رکھتے یا تم نہیں بجا لا سکتے، لیکن درستی پر قائم رہو اور خوش ہو جاؤ ۔ ابوعلی کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ابوداؤد کو کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ ہمارے بعض ساتھیوں نے کچھ کلمات مجھے ایسے لکھوائے جو کاغذ سے کٹ گئے تھے۔

English Translation

Shuayb ibn Zurayq at-Taifi said: I sat with a man who had been in the company of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He was called al-Hakam ibn Hazn al-Kulafi. He began to narrate a tradition to us saying: I came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم in a delegation consisting of seven or nine persons. We entered upon him and said: Messenger of Allah, we have visited you, so pray Allah what is good for us. He ordered to give us some dates. The Muslims in those days were weak. We stayed there for several days and offered the Friday prayer along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He stood leaning on a staff or a bow. He praised Allah and exalted Him in light, pure and blessed words. Then he said: O people, you have no power to obey or you cannot obey what you are ordered. But be straight and give good tidings. Abu Ali said: Did you hear Abu Dawud ? He said: Some of my companions reminded me of some words that were omitted from writing on the paper.
