حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ النَّاسَ فِي أَوَّلِ الْحَجِّ كَانُوا يَتَبَايَعُونَ بِمِنًى وَ عَرَفَةَ وَ سُوقِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ وَمَوَاسِمِ الْحَجِّ فَخَافُوا الْبَيْعَ وَهُمْ حُرُمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ سُبْحَانَهُ:‏‏‏‏ لَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَنْ تَبْتَغُوا فَضْلا مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ سورة البقرة آية 198 فِي مَوَاسِمِ الْحَجِّ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَحَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ بْنُ عُمَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَؤُهَا فِي الْمُصْحَفِ.

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   لوگ شروع شروع میں منیٰ، عرفہ اور ذوالمجاز کے بازاروں اور حج کے موسم میں خرید و فروخت کیا کرتے تھے پھر انہیں حالت احرام میں خرید و فروخت کرنے میں تامل ہوا، تو اللہ نے «ليس عليكم جناح أن تبتغوا فضلا من ربكم‏» تم پر اس میں کوئی گناہ نہیں کہ تم اپنے رب کا فضل تلاش کرو نازل کیا یعنی حج کے موسم میں۔ عطا کہتے ہیں: مجھ سے عبید بن عمیر نے بیان کیا کہ وہ ( ابن عباس ) اسے «في مواسم الحج» اپنے مصحف میں پڑھا کرتے تھے ۱؎۔

English Translation

Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The people used to trade, in the beginning, at Mina, Arafat, the market place of Dhul-Majaz, and during the season of hajj. But (later on) they became afraid of trading while they were putting on ihram. So Allah, glory be to Him, sent down this verse: It is no sin for you that you seek the bounty of your Lord during the seasons of hajj. Ubayd ibn Umayr told me that he (Ibn Abbas) used to recite this verse in his codex.
