Sunan Abu Dawood 2342 - Fasting (Kitab Al-Siyam)

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السَّمْرَقَنْدِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَا لِحَدِيثِهِ أَتْقَنُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ هُوَ ابْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَرَاءَى النَّاسُ الْهِلَالَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَخْبَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنِّي رَأَيْتُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَصَامَهُ وَأَمَرَ النَّاسَ بِصِيَامِهِ .

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   لوگوں نے چاند دیکھنے کی کوشش کی ( لیکن انہیں نظر نہ آیا ) اور میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو خبر دی کہ میں نے اسے دیکھا ہے، چنانچہ آپ نے خود بھی روزہ رکھا اور لوگوں کو بھی روزہ رکھنے کا حکم فرمایا۔

English Translation

Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: The people looked for the moon, so I informed the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم that I had sighted it. He fasted and commanded the people to fast.
