حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَنْجُوفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَسَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْعُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ وَفْدَ ثَقِيفٍ لَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْزَلَهُمُ الْمَسْجِدَ لِيَكُونَ أَرَقَّ لِقُلُوبِهِمْ فَاشْتَرَطُوا عَلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يُحْشَرُوا وَلَا يُعْشَرُوا وَلَا يُجَبَّوْا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَكُمْ أَنْ لَا تُحْشَرُوا وَلَا تُعْشَرُوا وَلَا خَيْرَ فِي دِينٍ لَيْسَ فِيهِ رُكُوعٌ .

Urdu Translation

عثمان بن ابوالعاص رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   جب ثقیف کا وفد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا تو آپ نے اہل وفد کو مسجد میں ٹھہرایا تاکہ ان کے دل نرم ہوں، انہوں نے شرط رکھی کہ وہ جہاد کے لیے نہ اکٹھے کئے جائیں نہ ان سے عشر ( زکاۃ ) لی جائے اور نہ ان سے نماز پڑھوائی جائے، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: خیر تمہارے لیے اتنی گنجائش ہو سکتی ہے کہ تم جہاد کے لیے نہ نکالے جاؤ ( کیونکہ اور لوگ جہاد کے لیے موجود ہیں ) اور یہ بھی ہو سکتا ہے کہ تم سے زکاۃ نہ لی جائے ( کیونکہ بالفعل سال بھر نہیں گزرا ) لیکن اس دین میں اچھائی نہیں جس میں رکوع ( نماز ) نہ ہو ۔

English Translation

Narrated Uthman ibn Abul As: When the deputation of Thaqif came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, he made them stay in the mosque, so that it might soften their hearts. They stipulated to him that they would not be called to participate in Jihad, to pay zakat and to offer prayer. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: You may have the concession that you will not be called to participate in jihad and pay zakat, but there is no good in a religion which has no bowing (i. e. prayer).
