حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ ثَوْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَقَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ قُلْ لَمْ تُؤْمِنُوا وَلَكِنْ قُولُوا أَسْلَمْنَا سورة الحجرات آية 14، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَرَى أَنَّ الْإِسْلَامَ الْكَلِمَةُ وَالْإِيمَانَ الْعَمَلُ .

Urdu Translation

  ابن شہاب زہری آیت کریمہ «قل لم تؤمنوا ولكن قولوا أسلمنا» آپ کہہ دیجئیے تم ایمان نہیں لائے بلکہ یوں کہو کہ مسلمان ہوئے ( سورۃ الحجرات: ۱۴ ) کی تفسیر میں کہتے ہیں: ہم سمجھتے ہیں کہ ( اس آیت میں ) اسلام سے مراد زبان سے کلمے کی ادائیگی اور ایمان سے مراد عمل ہے۔

English Translation

Explaining the verse, “say ; You have no faith, but you only say: We have submitted our wills to Allah”, Al-Zuhri said: We think that ISLAM is a word, and faith is an action.
